Breaded chicken tenders (and nuggets) of the gluten free variety have been popping up more on my Instagram feed. One of my favorite foods. As I’m sure they are one of your favorite foods too. This review is focusing on Applegate’s breaded chicken tenders. I’ve had a few loyal followers comment that they love this brand. I’m here to say that I always have loved them too. But in the world of reviews on this website, how do they stack up? Read on to find out.
Ease Of Cooking (9.5)
Set it and forget it. My favorite method of cooking. These can be cooked in the microwave or the oven. For the sake of these reviews, baking will always be the default cooking method if the frozen non-pre-cooked brand of chicken tenders calls for it. Microwaving is quick and easy but the taste test can get a bit cloudy if I microwave some and bake others.
I have always been a fan of Applegate gluten free breaded chicken products. I still am, including these chicken tenders. But an 8.2 is an accurate score considering other brands such as Saffron Roads, Bell and Evans and Trader Joe’s are out in the wild. Saffron Roads is actually more of a direct competitor to this product but all are good for comparison here. All those brands contain a lot more flavor in every bite than these Applegate chicken tenders do. They also hold together a bit better than Applegate in my opinion. I found these to be a bit on the bland side and the breading sometimes would come off the tenders with a big bite. But honestly, these are really good tenders and I would be happy purchasing these again – which I will. I just think the other brands are better.
Did I Get Sick (NO)
I trust Applegate and their gluten free claims. I’ve never gotten sick from an Applegate product either.
I love the brand Applegate and I really like these gluten free breaded chicken tenders. I think other brands such as Trader Joe’s, Saffron Roads and Bell and Evans are better in terms of flavor and breading. But I will happily purchase these chicken tenders again. Overall, recommended.
