Birch Benders is known for their easy to make (just add water) waffle and pancake mixes. But recently (about a month ago from the time of writing this) they have come out with a variety of toaster waffles based on the pancake mix flavors. They debuted them in Colorado and the Rocky Mountain region initially. And I guess just recently started spreading the love to the NJ area via Wegman’s in Woodcliff Lake. I only was able to find the paleo version which is what this review is about.
Ease of Cooking (9.5)
These come as pre-made waffles and are meant to be thrown in the toaster or toaster oven for a quick easy cooking session. I don’t have a toaster but they were very easy to cook in the toaster oven.
When I first pulled them out of the box I was a little afraid that these wouldn’t taste good. They had this pale look to them like they would taste bland and empty of flavor, like some gluten free toaster waffles taste. But I was very happily wrong about that. These taste really good and kind of addicting, with or without syrup. I may even go as far as to say that these are my top favorite gluten free toaster waffles.
Did I Get Sick (NO)
Nope, totally gluten free and paleo. They aren’t certified gluten free but I’ve never had a problem with their pancake mixes and I’m betting the same will apply with these toaster waffles in the long run.
I really enjoyed these paleo toaster waffles from Birch Benders. I was excited to find them here on the East Coast and I’m glad they lived up to the hype. I can’t wait to find the other gluten free version of these waffles. I’ll update this review when I do but for now, these are definitely recommended if you can find them.
