Talenti Gelato is easily my favorite ice cream brand. Ben and Jerry’s has some great gluten free flavors that are better individually but then not such great flavors that I don’t care for. But collectively as an overall ice cream brand, Talenti takes the scoop (pun intended). They offer so many gluten free flavors, as I’ve found out. And the flavors are almost always fantastic. I guess you could consider gelato to be in a different category than traditional ice cream but that’s not neither here nor there. Creamy, sugary, cold, flavorful chunks of ice cream or gelato are all the same to me.
So enough with my rambling, in my Ben & Jerry’s Gluten Free Flavors post I mentioned that I would be on a mission to hunt down gluten free flavors of all major ice cream brands. This is the continuation of that hunt and my next target is Talenti.

That is a ton of flavors. But the difference between Ben & Jerry’s long list of gluten free flavors and Talenti’s long list, is that Talenti ACTUALLY advertises these flavors as gluten free on their website. That is one big step up on Ben & Jerry’s in terms of confidence and security for us gluten free eaters. Nice job Talenti.
Now keep in mind, I’ve never contacted Talenti. But I do have a more scientific approach as of knowing whether something or not is actually gluten free. Today, I introduce to you my new pal Nima. I finally invested in this gluten free sensor that is famous among the celiac and allergy community. I only tested the Sicilian Pistachio flavor but it was 100% Nima approved so I think Talenti advertising is true to their word. I’m a very happy customer now.
You must always remember to check the ingredients label though. Although their website advertises gluten free flavors, the ice cream boxes mention nothing about being gluten free. I suspect this is because Talenti could change their ingredients at any given moment without notice and pull a flavor from their gluten free list.
I can tell you from experience that they have already done this once in the last 7 years. Toasted almond used to be my favorite when I was first diagnosed with celiac and this flavor had no gluten containing ingredients or mention of wheat. I decided to go on an ice cream break for a few years (yea I know how crazy am I), and when I came back my favorite flavor the ingredients said “contains: wheat.” I couldn’t believe my eyes. My point here is always be alert and always check the ingredients list for these ice cream brands.
My Favorite GF Flavors
Just as a fun little add on, my top three flavors are as follows: 1. Vanilla Caramel Swirl, 2. Sicilian Pistachio, and 3. Almond Butter & Honey
I’ve still never come across more then half of these flavors in stores so good luck finding some of them. Check out their website here for the full gluten free flavor list.
Not sure what the next ice cream brand I’ll research will be but stay tuned for my continued mission.
